First of all tues. games were a delight...Midland and Abbeville representing acadiana was awesome. They both did well and Abbeville played Vidalia down to the wire and Midland was just unbelieveable against Zwolle and well they did their best to hold down Rapides in Class B but it was not to be. Vidalia had one of the best all around teams in years and well they were proven of their top ranking. Richwood and Carroll's bands were fya as usual and so was their semi contest. I did not go to games on Wed., Thurs, and SAt. but it seemed to have some barnburners...Class 2A Jonesboro-Hodge was the team that got my MVP for being there as a #15 seed making it to the finals def. Red River and STA whom have winners in state title games before. Riverside Academy is gleaming with its first ever trip and title with a wealth of talent and Coach from defunct Reserve Academy. Class 5A games were close all the way as Brother Martin upset its way to another title upending Hammond and Scotlandville along the way. Pleasant Hill and Athens got to settle score in Class C for a change while CD and CLA had to sweat out semifinal games against regulars Arcadia and Plain Dealing. Class 4A semis looked like first round games with Bossier blowing out WM and Glen Oaks being beaten at the end with Peabody whom edged Bossier for its 3rd title and second undefeated season since 2004. All in all the games were very competetive and well the teams that got there earned their way. looking forward to next year...

I drove over to Bossier to watch the Bearkats play Ellender in the quarterfnals. They looked kind of small coming out on the court but much to my surprise they had four players who could dunk the ball. One of them wasn't even a starter. They were al very quick and athletic and I believe if they hadn't spotted Peabody that huge lead they would have won that state championship game. I know they wanted so bad to win te state title after losing in the title game last year, but I guess that's the way the ball bounces.

I drove down to Lafayette to see my Hawks play. I was worried about Midland, but I thought (hoped) the Hawks would pull it out. I don't know if I have ever seen a three-point shooting display like the Rebels put on in the first half. It was a minor miracle that Zwolle was only down by 15. Congrats to Midland for a great season and game. With only one senior this year, Zwolle should return next year for their 7th consecutive trip to the Finals week.

Rapides burnt midland with height in the class B finals...Class 3A was even worse with Vidalia running off with the game from the 4 minute mark of the first quarter. I did not go Sat. but as far as for Riverside at least they won a title because when this group from RCS is gone it may take them forever to do something that schools like me and you come from do this just about all the time.....Zwolle's 7 year run of state titles that is 35 wins to 0 and how many schools have'nt won 35 playoff games period.....
