BHB,
I believe ythat Kara Anderson is the best pitcher overall in our area. I would like to see Megan Lively pitch more but I belive that Kara is still the best. That has to be a great feeling to know that you have her for another year. What grade is your daughter in.

That is very high praise Heater. I think Kara deserves it, too. She is a very good pitcher in the face of some very good hitting teams. She just steps up when the competition gets tough. I like to watch her pitch when she is on top of her game. She is definately ONE OF THE BEST.
Jerrica is also a Junior. She and Kara played t-ball together and have played on travel teams and league teams against one another and on teams together ever since then. It been a lot of fun watching them develope into very good players.
Thanks for the compliment Heater.

Hey I forgot one that should be mentioned in with Kara and Megan, Gracie from OCS. We don't see her much but I know she is very good.

Yes! She is one of my favorite kids. She throws the ball with her whole body. What I like most about her is that she doesn't get rattled. She is the most calm and commanding pitcher in the circle no matter the situation. Great Leader and a great person. Good Call!

Rosepine is not located in NELA. Course not but since there was a thread going about pitchers/names I thought it was an appropriate place to ask...sorry.

Maybe there should be a thread regarding best pitchers in each classification. There are many VERY good pitchers in N. Louisiana. Certainly OCS has a primo pitcher with Thaxton (Sr). She is very steady on the rubbery. West Monroe has a very impressive Savannah Dollar (Jr.) and Haley Hayden (Fr.) W. Ouachita has M. Lively (Fr), M. LaBorde (Sr), and T. Davis (Jr). Then, if you want to stretch west just a bit, Evangel has Rousseau (Sr). But, even if you just want to keep it NE - ALL of the ladies above absolutely deserve recognition. I don't think, however, CCS has played against any of these teams, but maybe someone could verify. It's probably hard to have a good grasp of all the girls if you don't have an opportunity to play against them. I'm sure the coaches have trouble with that when they start voting for the All-District, All NE Louisiana and All-State players ;)

i have seen all the above pitchers play this year and it really is too close to call. Thaxton, Dollar, Lively, and Anderson are all very good, but i also think you have to factor in the classes in which each play. All play on clearly the best teams in NELA in their respective classes so it really is hard to call. i believe Lively threw a perfect game against OCS early on in the year and that is pretty impressive to say the least. but i have seen Anderson pitch multiple times this year and I have to say two of those times she was on top of her game and almost untouchable.

Yeah, I'd like to know who is THE best...period. If there is one deserving of such a distinction.

Then you might have to define "THE best". Does that just mean she dominates in her class or are you talking about college recruits possibly? Because, it really makes a difference the caliber of teams a pitcher faces during the season. Many can compete - even dominate - in their class. But, they may not fare as well elsewhere. Not sure anyone can honestly crown "the best" overall - everybody has their personal favorites and it's probably hard for all to be totally objective. Good luck to all of these young ladies over the next few weeks!

I have no dog in this hunt but I do agree that it's hard to be objective, in general. Even All-District meetings get interesting.
